ABOUT US
The men and women at Meadville Central Fire Department IAFF Local 515 have been dedicated to serving and protecting the City
of Meadville and the surrounding communities since 1838.
The City of Meadville which is the county seat is centrally
located in Crawford County and covers an area of 4.5 square
miles. The city is an active center for business,
industry, and education such as Allegheny College and Channellock
Inc. The city has approximately 13,685
residents and the population increases dramatically during week
day business hours.
The Meadville Central Fire Department operations are handled by a 3 platoon system consisting of a 24 hour on 48 hours off duty schedule. The compliment of firefighters consists of 15 career firefighters and one fire chief. The department does more than just responded to emergencies, we enforce fire codes for all the businesses in the city along with fire inspections and fire drills. Hold fire Prevention week at the station during our open house for kids and adults, also we hold fire prevention programs at the schools, and at the MMC Health Fair each year. We support MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association) by holding a boot day every year, donating all proceeds towards the program. The department also offers hands on fire extinguisher training and safety for Meadville Medical Center employees and all the child caregivers in the community along with many other organizations. The fire department has specialized trained firefighters,emt's, and paramedics who offer car seat safety checks and installation to the community and surrounding areas, along with trained water rescue, scuba, hazmat, and usar team members.
